Welcome Revenge-lovers! What an episode ‘Commitment’ turned out to be. From one scene to the next, this episode found me crying, smiling and my mouth opened with shock. Let’s find out what happened.
The episode begins with Emily and Nolan watching an interview David had with Treadwell about Charlotte being his daughter. Nolan tries to find out where Em’s feelings are at, to which she responds “My feelings are irrelevant”. Daniel and Queen Bitch chat with lawyer-dude about Conrad’s assets, and Daniel still plans to marry Emily despite what Victoria thinks. Emily walks in on a sickly-romantic scene between Amanda and Jack (noo Jacky, get away from her), and takes Amanda away to tell her about Treadwell’s involvement with the fire (she pins it on Queen Bitch? Well, I wouldn’t have put it past Victoria, but that’s sneaky Em) to try and convince her to leave town. Which backfires, of course.
"Oh Jack! What a pretty little bird!"
Conrad takes Charlotte and Declan out for lunch, where he offers Declan the option of studying with Charlotte, all expenses paid. Conrad receives a small package which makes him look somewhat worried. Turns out, it was a video of David’s confession about Charlotte and this certainly puts a set-back in Victoria’s plans. Uh oh.
Lawyer-dude has a mental at Victoria about breaching privacy, and it’s obvious that Victoria thinks Amanda had something to do with the leaked tape. Conrad steals Charlotte’s hairbrush, while Emily plants some tapes in Amanda’s bag. She finds a letter Jack left her with ‘Love you’ written on it (ARGGHHHH) and Jack spots her in the apartment. Emily warns him to be careful… of the storm (we all know what you meant sugar). Meanwhile Queen Bitch susses out Amanda’s involvement with the fire and her strawberry allergy, but is secretly waiting to get her DNA from a spoon.
"You can't control me." Best storm-out ever.
Lawyer-dude gives Victoria the news: Conrad’s not Charlotte’s father, and he knows it. Ashley walks in on Daniel’s plans to propose, while Conrad offers Victoria pittance or court – a love affair blown up in the media. Ashley overhears the conversation (“Bloody hell” indeed!) and Jack questions Amanda’s sour mood. Nolan tells her to keep Jack out of the messy business, and forward all questions to Emily. Yah, this is getting nail-bite-worthy.
Conrad retracts his offer for Charlotte to stay with him, which (as we knew it wouldn’t) doesn’t go down well. Daniel takes Emily on the most STUNNINGLY decorated boat; they dance and talk and romance and then it rains and he gets down on one knee and it’s heart-thuddingly spectacular as he proposes and she says YES. Kisses in the rain! Oh how gorgeous.
*heart thuds* Too cute!
The two stumble into the house and Victoria tries, in her own way, to be happy for them. Ash dishes on Em’s engagement to Nolan in front of Jack (ouch). Some dude tries to hit on Amanda (creepy much?) and Daniel tells Conrad about his and Em’s engagement – and while Conrad thinks it’s all a big ploy to get his money, Daniel digs a little deeper and Conrad mentions the ‘big secret’. “Ask your mother”.
Charlotte cries a little to Emily, but is distracted by the ring (what a ROCK, might I add) and she loves the idea of a sister. The DNA comes back and it’s positive (?) for Amanda Clarke. Lawyer-dude tries to weasle his way out but gets fired instead. Creepy bar dude breaks into Jack’s and then kicks him half to death (oh MY GOD JACK!). Nolan fires off at Emily about how far she’s willing to go, especially since Jack’s blood is now on her hands. She goes to see Lawyer-dude (wait, he was working for EM?) and he re-iterates Nolan’s idea that she should reassess what she’s doing.
Emily goes to see a beaten Jack (aw, poor baby) and then tells Amanda about how the Grayson’s framed her father and how she’s going to take everything away from them. Emily encourages Amanda to leave (tears and all) and Daniel quizzes Mummy-dearest on the ‘big secret’. When Victoria tells him, he hugs her and all I can think is – well, I’m glad it didn’t tear them apart.
Emily tells Nolan that she’s going to press ‘pause’ on her plans – and she’s going to break her engagement (for now at least). Jack wakes up and is confused as to why Amanda would leave; Victoria tries to make amends with Charlotte (too soon Vic, too soon) and we flashback to when Victoria discovers she’s pregnant (the night David was arrested!). Daniel tells Emily about Victoria’s secret, and his anger at David pushes Emily’s plans back into motion. Holy crap!
