Amy Sherman-Palladino: producer of the wildly successful Gilmore Girls and new show Bunheads

Coming soon to a TV near you, ABC Family has thrown its support behind yet another original show; the bizarrely named drama series Bunheads.
Bunheads looks set to be a very different kind of Cinderella story. Staring celebrated double Tony award winner Sutton Foster, it follows the story of a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man and picks up her life to follow him back home to a quiet little coastal town. Trying to fit into her new life whilst also working at her mother-in-law’s dance school, this is one woman who is going to have to learn to adjust in a very big way.
Teaming up once again with Gilmore Girls producer Amy Sherman-Palladino, Kate Juergens, ABC Family executive vice president, Original Programming and Development, has said that she and Amy “had a great collaboration on ‘Gilmore Girls,’” and that she looks “forward to this new partnership being just as successful.”
Kate Juergens also thinks that the Bunheads audience is going to “fall in love with Sutton Foster the same way Broadway has.” It’s a big step for the stage starlet who has only done a small amount of work on the silver screen before, this will be her first staring role on television.
ABC Family looks set to start production on the show in Spring 2012. Can’t wait
