As if The Secret Circle‘s Chris Zylka wasn’t already charming, witty and handsome, the (pretend) bad boy also has a softer side too; and it’s demonstrated through the most unlikely of ways – a quote.
From Shakespeare to Plato; from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe to Robert Frost, the great writers of our time all had to start somewhere. Just as the great actors of our time had to start from the bottom and work their way up to the top.
Just yesterday Chris posted this on his twitter:
“I hope it’s known that I’m affected by your feelings every one of you. I may not have the literacy of a journalist. But I know how to love.”
Whether out of anger or hurt, the quote was beautiful and demonstrated the freedom that literacy gives us if we so choose to explore it. The quote gave me pause and I reflected upon where Chris might end up in his acting career. Could he be the next Leonardo DiCaprio, who’s career truly kick-rocketed in the magical drama What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, where he starred alongside Johnny Depp? Or could he find his calling in action-packed movies, like Mark Wahlberg? Take a look Secret Circle lovers as to what greatness I believe we can expect from Chris Zylka.
As willing as Sean F…
Beginning with Sean Faris, I see Chris moving from his role in The Secret Circle (much like Sean Faris in TV series Life As We Know It and Reunion) to bigger scale projects like the movie Never Back Down and our TV favorite, The Vampire Diaries. He already has the looks and the “bad boy” presence that Sean does, but with his role as ‘Jake’ we see demonstrated a willingness to love and learn. Chris has also started from the bottom with his extras role in TV series Everybody Hates Chris and Hannah Montana, and now look where he is? On a prime-time television network, cast as a series regular. He is moving up my friends.
As brilliant as Mark…
You might remember Actor and Producer Mark Wahlberg in his role as ‘Bob Lee Swagger’ in action movie Shooter or as ‘Charlie Croker’ in The Italian Job. But did you know that Mark (aside from being a musician) began his career as ‘Marky Mark’ in TV series Out All Night? The man has moved from being virtually a ‘nobody’ to executive producer of Entourage and Boardwalk Empire. The man is brilliant, and I don’t see how Chris isn’t moving in the same direction. After all, who’s starring in the new movie, The Amazing Spider-Man? Oh yes, Chris that’s who.
As hypnotising as Leo…
I know what you’re thinking. Leonardo DiCaprio? The hero, the villain, the legend? But Chris has all the right ingredients to become the next “Leo”. Let’s jump back to Leo’s early days, where he starred as scruffy loose-cannon ‘Tobias’ in This Boy’s Life, and let’s not forget to mention Romeo + Juliet. I like to use the word ‘captivating’ to describe Leo, but Chris is mightily enchanting himself. Like Leo, Chris is more than just his hypnotising appearance. I envision a future for him as dazzling as Leonardo DiCaprio’s.
As moving as Matt…
As Chris’ character ‘Jake’ demonstrates, if you can strangle men with a spell and fall in love with a girl that you can’t (well, at this stage) have, then you most certainly can jump off buildings and bewitch female audiences across the world, like Matt Damon. But if you look at Matt’s career, you might notice he was both a writer and an actor of award-winning movie Good Will Hunting - a moving tale of a young man who is searching for meaning in his life. If this isn’t inspiration for Chris’ quote tweet, then he should find it in the role he has now – where he can channel anger, frustration, betrayal and love all into his character ‘Jake’.
As legendary as Sean C…
Sean Connery – an even higher call, you might say. But no, I don’t think anything is too high for this aspiring young actor. Connery too found his feet in television before being cast as one of the legendary ‘James Bond’s’ in Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again. With a few more roles and a movie under his belt, Chris is well on his way to becoming a legend in his own right.
Well readers, I hope this has you in the mood for some Valentine’s Day celebrating – with a glass of wine, some chocolates and a bit of Chris Zylka to start the day. All I know is that whichever girl has him for Valentine’s Day, she is sure blessed. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for The Amazing Spider-Man - but until then you can swoon over Chris on Wednesdays, 9pm EST on The CW.
