Vampire Diaries’ ‘Klaus’ Top 5 Killer Quotes

“I could have compelled her to behave, but a real rippah enjoys the hunt.”  Oh there are so many thrilling lines flawlessly delivered by the delicious Joseph Morgan that choosing just five is almost painful!  Mission Impossible: narrow down your favorites.  What lines make your um…spine…tingle? *Insert JoMo winky face here*

Trying to be “original” (you’ll pardon the pun I hope) I tried to choose ones that are a little more obscure than the usual “Now that’s more like it sweetheart”.  Here are a few of my favorites.  Let’s dive right in!

“Thanks for the loaner, Mate.” ~ To Alaric in The Last Day Episode.

This is the first time we see the villain we love to hate with one of our beloved Salvatore brothers. Damon and Alaric are hanging out in the bar  when the big bad appears. Threatening demeanor? CHECK! Unreasonably good-looking? CHECK! Terrifying? CHECK! Sense of HUMOR? Um… check? Who knew? Klaus can be funny!  Cracking jokes one minute and scaring our pants off the next. While warning Damon not to “screw it up” you get a real sense of the violence bubbling under his cool exterior.

“Whatever it is you’re thinking of trying, go for it.  Give it your best shot.” ` To Elena/Katherine at his father’s “wake” in the Homecoming episode.

Klaus delivers 2 messages with this one. #1 his cockiness. Seriously, this is one confident dude. #2 Klaus will always be 2 steps ahead of our bumbling crew of heroes and I for one am thrilled! The more plans to kill him that fail, the longer he will be around. Lets face it…this guy is too much fun to watch to kill off just yet. Joseph Morgan has really immersed himself in this character; it’s apparent how much fun he is having with every word uttered on and off camera.

“I want you to join me for a drink.” ~ To Stefan in As I Lay Dying.

Okay…I’m taking liberties here.  This is NOT a stellar quote, I know. I think it’s more what follows.  Joseph Morgan’s scenes in this episode are delicious. There aren’t enough words to describe how conniving, how devious, how scheming, how eeeeeevil, how…ok ok. You get the idea.  Between the glimpses of crazy and the constant underlying threat of menace Klaus just doesn’t get any better. While manipulating Stefan into becoming the thing he has worked so hard to avoid we aren’t sure if it’s just for sport or to stave off his own loneliness.  One thing is clear, that Klaus is one calm,  cruel conniving cat!

“I could let you die, if that’s what you really want. If you really believe your existence has no meaning…I thought about it myself, once or twice over the centuries, truth be told.” ~ To Caroline in Our Town.

Yes, we’ve seen Klaus show his humanity in brief (very brief) flashes, such as when confronted by his father at the Lockwood mansion.  Of course Mikael was also telling him what a worthless, lonely piece of garbage he thought he was at the time, securing the Worst Father of the Year Award which isn’t easy in that town.  The closest thing Mystic Falls has to a good parent is Alaric, who is more of a drunken guardian. Oh but ladies and gents…this exchange between Klaus and Caroline REEKED of humanity.  Let’s not get excited, this IS Klaus and I’m quite certain there is some deceitful underhanded reason he saved Caroline. In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy it for the tear jerking, chest clutching, extremely well acted moment it was. Well done JoMo….well done.

“TURN IT OFF!!” ~ To Stefan in The Reckoning.

Is it me or was this episode Kalus-o-rific!?  For a guy who just found out why his plans to open a Werepires-R-Us factory were foiled he sure was quick on his feet with an evil to do list! This was one of the scenes where Klaus tipped the scale from scary to terrifying for me. Yes, he has scared me silly a few times, but this time I actually got so lost in the moment that I stopped breathing!  Big kudos to Paul Wesley and Joseph Morgan! Be careful what you ask for Klaus…Stefan may turn out to be more then you bargained for!
