Revenge-lovers, my mind has imploded on itself. This episode could not have paused on a more electrifying and bewildering note! My jaw has not yet lifted from the floor. ‘Scandal’ is hardly the word to describe this episode – surely ‘Manic’ or ‘Insanity’ would be better suited. But let us wait no longer, I am as eager as a bridegroom to round up ‘Scandal’ in a recap!
It’s the aftermath of Tyler’s demise and Daniel’s arrest, and confessions and alibis are being made left, right and centre – all except Daniel, who’s the only one with a shady and fractured story. Conrad weasels Daniel out of custody (for now), but not before Daniel has a secret chat with Victoria and Emily just as secretly whispers with Nolan about what he may know.
Emily drives Daniel home, and he explains that he apologised to Victoria and he shares with us a flashback to the moment with Tyler. He sketchily says he doesn’t remember anything. Ashley tells the Grayson’s she’s been running media watch because some photos from the crime scene have leaked online, and Victoria and Conrad try to get Charlotte to stay and be part of their “united front”, but she’s having none of it.
Things are tense between Daniel and Emily, and he encourages her to take Sammy for a walk and eyes her hidey hole. Declan surprises Jack with questions about where he’s been, and sneakily spots the infamous hoodie (YIPES). Then Emily finds Daniel looking through a box – (anyone ele feel like Emily psychoanalyses Daniel when she talks to him?) which isn’t hers. She reassures him that Tyler’s a liar and she’s the one who’ll stand by his side, no matter what.
The lawyer tells Daniel, Victoria and Emily that things are up in the air at the moment with evidence. Conrad’s absence is noticed, and after Victoria finds him he suggests they do what they’ve done before – where we discover that he was responsible for Flight 197′s crash that landed David Clarke in jail (knewwww it). From that little encounter I’m wondering if Conrad believes Daniel is guilty. *ponders*
Jack shows up on Emily’s porch and the two discuss the whole debacle. Jack fishes for information on who’s a suspect and where Amanda might be, and Nolan and Emily watch the secret video of him on his boat when Amanda rocked up. Emily commands Nolan to find out why she’s been back and why she’s in hiding.
Declan catches Charlotte tossing back some pain pills, and Emily reassures Daniel she’s not going to let him get “fried” – right before the police storm in to handcuff and arrest him. Daniel is forced to ‘fess up on what actually happened. Some of the evidence doesn’t add up, which hopefully can be used to his advantage. The press are on a feeding frenzy and our delightful (I may change my mind on this later – perhaps to admirable) Ashley steps in to take charge.
Jack chances upon a jacket in his car with a photo and a piece of (apparently) important paper. Victoria offers Emily her engagement present to hold onto. Jack shows up to ask for Nolan’s help, where he wonders about the 5 million dollars that’s been wired into an off-shore account, and tells Nolan he followed Amanda to the beach. Ha, Nolan wit: “You asked for my advice and i’m not hoing to sugar coat it. Throw away the receipt and let it go. And while you’re at it, why don’t you let Amanda go too.” Nolan leaves Emily a woried voicemail. Hoo boy.
Charlotte asks Victoria if she thinks Daniel did it, and then questions her on David Clarke as a person. Victoria goes off into remembrance land – she didn’t want anyone to know about her and David’s affair. Turns out the wire transfer receipt was due to Emily? Oh right, should have picked up on that. Nolan again: You ever notice how whenever you want girlfriend to leave she keeps popping up like the homicidal stripper version of whack-a-mole but whenever you need to find her she vanishes?” (*chuckles*). Lawyer shows up to dig in Daniel’s closet, and Emily shares her “candid” opinion – about the Grayson’s!
That opinion turns out to be one of the Grayson’s many cover-ups for their family; this one for Daniel. Victoria and Conrad reluctantly admit they’ll be more open with information regarding their affairs, and the news of tampered security tapes has Emily yelling at Nolan. Turns out Takeda has been using Nolan to watch out for Emily. Ashley plays her role nicely, and Declan panics about the hoodie. Emily comes home to find Charlotte on her porch. The two share a nice little sisterly moment, with Emily giving some advice and memory and cuddles to Charlottle. Aw.
Declan confronts Jack about the hoodie and who he’s protecting, and claims he’s going to start protecting Jack whatever the cost. Lawyer comes to chat to Jack about Amanda and his whereabouts on Saturday, while Nolan keeps watch. Ashley inquires about the Lawyer’s opinion on whether Daniel is guilty, then blatantly admits she thinks Daniel’s guilty and will get away with it. Might she be using the camera and spotlight for her own gain?
Victoria and Conrad share an unexpected moment (trial and tribulation brings family together?), and we jump to Daniel’s trial where he is not allowed bail and sent to maximum security prsion. OMG. Meanwhile Nolan tells Jack he’s making a “colossal mistake” for not leaving, and Nolan casts and admiring eye on Ashley – or was it understanding? As it is Ashley took the photos at the beach – woah, picking up some Grayson/Emily habits I see!
Everyone’s stuck and unsure of their loyalties, and before we can wrap our heads around Daniel’s predicament the episode takes us to 48 hours earlier, where we see that Emily ran into Takeda. It was actually Takeda who knocked Daniel out, and finished the job on Tyler. WOAH did NOT see that coming!
Takeda pretty much implies it’ll be either Jack or Daniel that goes down, and that is all part and parcel of Emily’s plan unravelling.
Questions, Comments, and Concerns…
- I just need a moment to breathe again. WHAT an episode! Who else was biting their nails the whole time?
- Isn’t Nolan just the cutest?
- So Daniel’s in prison now – will he take the fall, or will they find Amanda and pin the murder on her, or will Jack end up being the one who goes down (for love maybe?)?
- Has Takeda taken Amanda under his wing or shipped her off somewhere exotic and far far away?
- After all this, will Emily’s own secret come out?
- Is Charlotte going to continue taking those pills? I don’t like seeing that ray of sunshine so gloomy.
To taunt us (I am sure) we are on hiatus for awhile, but don’t worry – we’ll keep you entertained with plenty of Revenge posts in the meantime!
