The last thing we saw on last week’s Game of Thrones was Jon Snow getting knocked out after witnessing what happens to Craster’s sons. Not sure what horrifies Jon more. Learning that Craster’s sons are being offered up to the White Walkers, or that Commander Mormont knew about it. Now we’re back, and things are starting to get deadly. The pawns are moved into position, and each side is trying to capture the queen. Let the games begin!
“My son is fighting a war, not just playing at one.”
Catelyn Stark finally arrives at Renly’s camp. She tries to get him to recognize Robb’s claim, but Renly isn’t having it. Luck seems to be in his favor when he appoints the Lady Brienne as the first ever woman to be on is Rainbow Guard. Loras is not pleased to say the least, and seems even less so when it comes to the fact his boyfriend just married his sister. Luckily, Margery doesn’t mind sharing.
“A very small man can cast a very large shadow.”
Tyrion is tired of being undermined at court, and sets a trap for the snake that’s been stabbing him in the back. Since he isn’t sure if the sneak is Varys, Littlefinger, or Grand Maester Pycelle, Tyrion tells each of them a different plot to see which one Cersei comes after him for. In the end, it’s revealed that the Grand Maester is the two-faced. Tyrion also discovers Pycelle’s part in both John Arryn and Ned Stark’s deaths.
“Power resides where men believes it resides.”
Tyrion wasn’t the only one navigating the waters of intrigue at court. Sansa Stark continued her balancing act of wanting to be rid of Joffrey, but managing to keep her head at the same time. As she broke in a new handmaid, her sister Arya continued north towards the wall. The guards that were after Gendry at Joffrey’s behest
return, and kill Yoren. Without the black brother, Arya and the Night’s Watch recruits get rounded up. After the guards kill a young guy amongst them, Arya lies and says that that was Gendry.
No Daenerys this week. Boo! Also no Robb. Boo x2! But we did see some Theon.
Mostly he got humiliated some more by his sister, and slapped by his father. I would feel sorry for him, but I hate him, so no bother. Next week it looks we may finally get some Dany action, Renly will continue his campaign, Sansa will get stripped, and Melisandre will take the light into the dark. With winter on the horizon, something wicked this way comes. So what did you think about “What is Dead May Never die”? Sound off in the comments below!
