Falling Skies’ Moon Bloodgood Discusses New Surprises Ahead in Season 3
TV After Dark recently sat down with Falling Skies actress Moon Bloodgood to discuss the up-coming new season which airs with a 2-hour season 3 premiere on June 9th. Aside from Tom and Anne’s new addition, Bloodgood also discussed her own, and how her real life pregnancy affected production.

Anne Glass is a doctor who’s been forced to work triage thanks to the alien invasion. With limited supplies, and often under fire, Anne has helped keep the 2nd Mass on their feet. One of the burning questions asked was how much Moon felt she was like her character. Moon said, “Anne is much more level-headed than I am. I’m more dramatic and fiery. We always play characters who are better than we are. Maybe that’s why we like being actors.”
Moon also discussed how Anne’s new life as a doctor, new mother, and wife of the President will affect her in season 3. While Anne may be the First Lady, Moon reveals that the show never really touches on that fact. Instead, the show focuses on Tom and Anne’s new baby which is due to arrive any moment. Though Anne was about to give birth, Moon was still only 7 months pregnant, so the show made her wear a fake belly to make her appear more pregnant than she really was. However, there ended up being a continuity problem. After Anne delivered her new baby, Moon was even more pregnant and it showed. She adds, “Yeah, i was a surreal moment. Sort of living a parallel life.”
As excited Moon is about her new storyline, she’s even more excited for the addition of Doug Jones‘ character “Cochise.” Cochise was last season in the season 2 finale landing in Charleston as a brand new alien, leaving fans to wonder if the survivors were going to have to battle a new enemy. This season we discover that Cochise is in fact an ally, and he’s the leader of a band of Rebel Aliens. Unfortunately, Moon didn’t have the opportunity to work with Jones due to her pregnancy, but hopes she’ll get the opportunity to work with more of the cast next season.
“There is so much more happening this year. It’s so much faster, and I think it’s because we now know our show so the pacing has picked up. The storylines are tighter. Anne doesn’t have as much adventure, but then I do leave.”
Moon’s departure was due to her taking maternity leave to go and have her baby in real-life, but the she reveals the show was able to use that to their advantage with what will be going on with Anne this season. While she did reveal her departure, she wouldn’t reveal whether or not Anne takes her baby with her, or when she/they would return to Charleston. “This next year… I wish I could tell you guys, but it’s going to be nuts,” Moon teases.
Fans of John Pope (Colin Cunningham) can rest easy. Pope and his Berserkers will be back in full force this season. Not only is the outlaw gang still going strong, but Pope now is king of his own domain. He and his crew have managed to commandeer their own little piece of Charleston complete with their very own biker bar. Moon says, “He’s our fun guy. He’s our Rock & Roll guy, but what’s great about John Pope is that there’s more to him. But he’s always fighting his own shadows, and he’s always getting his own way, but there’s a heart to him. This season there’s a character who dies, and you’ll see him really get emotional.”
One of the questions on my mind was if Anne was worried that her baby may have been affected from Anne being held hostage by Karen aboard the Skitter ship at the end of season 2. Moon reveals that Anne wasn’t worried until something major happens after her baby was born. Check out the video below to see her answer, but beware: It’s very spoilery!
