Meet The Friends
TVAfterDark was born from movie watchers, book lovers, TV & music addicts, yes, from folks who live for entertainment – basically, that means we love stories and even more we LOVE our part in telling them. – Our group of talented journalists, writers, host and producers help bring our news/stories to life. Yes, we dig it when our work ‘says something’. We aren’t the biggest online publication in town. We’re a guerrilla band of mutants – big enough to produce impressive work, small enough to remember why we’re producing it.
Romancia – Founder/Editor-in-Chief
Romancia interest is television hosting and entertainment journalism. A self-professed pop culture junkie, with a naturally inquisitive nature and energetic personality, the dream job of a television host seemed a perfect fit. Jayne Balke – Co-Founder/Editor
[The Lying Game, The Vampire Diaries, Revenge, Nikita & Beauty and the Beast]
Jayne is a self-proclaimed Joseph Morgan lover and chocolate mint biscuit addict. If you granted her one wish, it’d be to travel the world for the rest of her life. Currently in her final (at least she thinks so) year of a double degree Bachelor of Creative Industries and Human Services, Jayne hopes to investigate as many exciting new opportunities that come her way once uni ends. On her days off from working as a Sales Assistant at Myer, Jayne loves to dive into a good book (favorite authors include Ted Dekker, Marian Keyes and Jane Austen) or to write (online or on paper, whatever takes her fancy) or to rant about ridiculous things like how much she loves her new bed.
Of course, Jayne’s main addiction in life is TV. She loves new shows, but mostly swings back and forth between The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural. Jayne curses the day Smallville ended, and wishes Gilmore Girls had been granted at least one more season (no Lorelai and Luke wedding? Devastation!). If you could summarize Jayne in one word, it’d be “random”, as most of her thoughts and words are. She gets bored easily and so likes to be on the go as much as possible, and her perfect night out would be with her best friends, drinking fruit tingles and giggling about school days. Give her a swimming pool or a flat stretch of paddock to gallop a horse on and she’ll be the happiest person alive.
Tiffany Brown – Editor/Writer/Reviewer
[American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, Being Human, Game of Thrones, Pretty Little Liars, Cult and Falling Skies]
Tiffany is a native of Michigan who has been living in SoCal for the past decade. She enjoys reading, playing the violin, and watching television. Her current favorite shows are The Vampire Diaries, American Horror Story, Revenge, Supernatural, Game of Thrones, and The Walking Dead. When she isn’t sitting around with one of her favorite past-times, Tiffany enjoys long walks on the beach, and figure skating. A self-confessed pop-culture junkie, Tiffany spends a lot of time talking about her favorite shows. It’s her love of film/television that prompted her to begin writing on her favorite shows.Besides contributing for TV After Dark, Tiffany also contributes for We Love Cult, and covers fashion for Portrait Magazine. On top of all that, she also helps manage I Heart Vampire Diaries. When Tiffany isn’t busy with all her writing duties, she loves to make fan videos of her favorite shows, mostly The Vampire Diaries.
Abigail Wakefield – Writer/Reviewer
[The Carrie Diaries, Chicago Fire]
“Abi is a self confessed travel junkie, with an incurable case of wanderlust. She is a lover of art (power walking to the Impressionist section of any gallery), music (she sings and attempts piano), Vera Wang (if only it were free), make up (frequently using friends as human dolls) and anything that is visually and aesthetically pleasing. It is therefore in keeping that Abi should love the art of Film & TV. She jumps at the opportunity to slip into someone else’s skin for a time, absorbing the character; feeling as it feels, laughing as it laughs, crying as it cries.
Her list of TV loves includes The Vampire Diaries, The Carrie Diaries, New Girl, Friends, Gilmore Girls, The Bang Bang, IT Crowd, Catfish and How I Met Your Mother, but to name a few. Her guilty pleasure is reality TV, and can often be found in a hotel room engrossed in the latest episode of TMZ.”
Milen Yassin – Editor/Writer/Reviewer
[Suits, Teen Wolf, Revolution, Scandal]
Milen made the move to Dallas, Texas after years of working and living abroad. She’s a lifelong journaler, and loves reading. Her love of reading goes hand in hand with her love of libraries. With an eclectic taste, she’s a collector of sorts and loves nostalgic things. If she could do anything in the world it would be to travel and write.
A TV fanatic, Milen’s favorite shows include Buffy, Gilmore Girls, The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, and Suites. Also a diehard fan of all things paranormal and weird, she could spend hours watching horror movies and Celebrity Ghost Stories. With a passion for the arts, it’s her love of creating that has set her this voyage. If there’s one thing that makes her happy in life, it’s stories.

Candace Wilson – Writer/Reviewer
[Music | Pop Culture]
Candace is born and raised in Southern California, but will always call New York City a second home after spending a year there attending Pace University. She is a studio photographer with ambitions to be a screenwriter or a photographer in the music industry. She spends much of her free time closed up in her room, surrounded by posters of her favorite bands listening to music or playing one of her guitars. She’s a major bookworm, comic book nerd and TV junkie who lives and breathes fandom.
The nights that she doesn’t spend writing or playing her guitar she can be found either in the crowds at a convention or on the barricade at a rock concert. She is pretty easy to pick out of a crowd with either red, purple or blue hair and the unmistakable Supernatural and My Chemical Romance tattoos on her arms. Although, depending on the crowd she is surrounded by, others may be confused by her name since she is known strictly as Jax by her friends and followers on Tumblr. Some of her favorite moments in life have been spent with her friends in line at rock shows on the barricade watching her favorite musicians in My Chemical Romance, The Used, 30 Seconds to Mars and Pierce the Veil. When not admiring her favorite band guys she is stuck in front of the TV watching Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Merlin, Once Upon A Time, Sons of Anarchy, The Vampire Diaries, and The Big Bang Theory. Her other favorite things in life include The Lord of the Rings, The Umbrella Academy comics, Dr. Pepper, and every Christopher Nolan movie.
Danielle Kriger – Writer
Danielle is from across the pond from the land of Doctor Who, Tea (although she drinks far more coffee) and something called One Direction. She likes to ramble around London (her hometown) wearing ridiculously long scarves and scaring little children with her fake moustaches. After graduating with a Psychology BSc she disappeared off to Canada for a year to frolic in the snow as an Adaptive Ski Instructor. In the New Year she plans to burrow through the center of the earth to Australia and try her luck there because itchy feet syndrome means she finds it hard to stay in one place for long. A life-long fan of the ‘epic’ fantasy genre Danielle would prefer to have a sword and fight forces of darkness than ever get a real job. Alas as this cannot be she is currently trying to figure out a plan that involves making her passions i.e. movies, television, books etc into work so is considering undertaking more study in the form of journalism. In the meantime she is learning how to become a Zombie and writing a book (not about Zombies) so far it is going quite well.
Amber Pruitt – Editor/Writer/Reviewer
She is the founder of The Mortal Institute, which covers book and movie news for the Cassandra Clare series The Mortal Instruments and the prequel series The Infernal Devices. Ruth lives and works in Northern Germany. She’s an TV addicted, book reading and music loving Art Historian. If she’s not listening to her favorite bands: Mando Diao and The Black Keys – she’s glued to her TV watching shows like: Sons of Anarchy (yes she loves Charlie Hunnam), Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Suits and of course Arrow. Her perfect day: long breakfast, an old piece of furniture to restore, a walk on the coast and afterwards a good book.

Magui is a very enthusiastic girl that lives in a small town somewhere in Argentina. A Marketing student, fashion junky and Eco girl that spends most of her free time blogging on Tumblr and Twitter, which is also her source on the latest gossips about her 2 loves: Ian Somerhalder and The Vampire Diaries.Besides TVD, she’s also discovered a new obsession: Teen Wolf, MTV’s latest hit, and willing to see The CW’s upcoming series The Secret Circle; without forgetting about the origin and cause of this fanatism on supernatural mythology: The Twilight Saga. Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, True Blood and others are also in the list that goes on and on.everything from Bach to Metallica.
Jody Agard ~ Dating/Relationship Guru
Jody is known as the “Guru of advice giving” amongst her many friends which includes various topics, but her personal favorite…good ol’ dating and relationships.
Jody admits to having “hopeless romantic” tendencies. She doesn’t like to refer to “Mr. Dreamy Guy” as a “soul mate” because she believes you can have many soul mates in a lifetime. BUT you can only have one “cheese to your macaroni” in a lifetime. Jody also says everyone has their own form of “Edward” just waiting to be captured. Jody is not only energetic and outgoing; she is inspiring, motivating, open minded and witty.
Aleksañda Zwierzyyriska ~ Video Contributor
Aleksañda Zwierzyyriska is from Poland, she is currently in secondary school. Aleksañda started making videos 3-4 years ago but seriously 2 years ago when she started working on Sony Vegas. This Polish creative mind we have dubbed that Goddess of Fan Vid Trailers started out editing out of curiosity but mainly for her love of watching vids about movies & tv series. It’s that curiosity that got her to try her first video from Windows Movie Maker.
What does a goddess like to do for fun? According to her, not studying but is very keen on films (especially Horrors!). She not only loves to watch movies, also talking which leads to just about everything that gets her on to the computer to edit. Asking the goddess if that’s all, her response was, “Haha but don’t think that I’m boring! :D I like partying, meeting with my wonderful friends. I also like to travel, listen to music, I like sports too, in fact I used to play football. Ohh I almost forgot – I love fishing. I know it’s weird but I love it.”
Maribella Armato - Writer/Reviewer
[Once Upon a Time and Shameless]
Maribella Armato born and raised in New York City is an aspiring professional contemporary ballet dancer with a serious pop culture obsession. Currently a freshman attending Hunter College on Park Avenue in New York, majors in dance while minoring in journalism. When she’s not at rehearsal or class one may find her attached to her phone or laptop catching up on TV and movies. She loves to write about her many eclectic opinions on tumblr or twitter. Her favorite part about watching the average teen television drama is “shipping”. Anyone who follows her on twitter knows she is very much the idealistic romantic.
She’s obsessed with couples like Snow and Charming from Once Upon A Time, Jackson(Colton Haynes come back!) and Lydia from Teen Wolf, and Fiona and Steve from Shameless! Being very outgoing and loud Maribella definitely enjoys having a good time at parties with her friends when ever she has free time. But when she’s not dancing she is most definitely talking about celebs, fictional couples, and life’s daily struggles on twitter. My favorite shows right now include Shameless, Once Upon A Time, Teen Wolf, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, New Girl, The Mindy Project, and The Vampire Diaries.
Leigh-Ann Brodber – Movie writer/Reviewer
Emerging from the depths of the beginners writing field, I come out of my shell to join the world only because of two reasons: I love nachos from theaters and to make money to be able to buy nachos from theaters. When I’m not being reclusive or devouring nachos, I do enjoy reading various genres of books (I might be somewhat of a book junkie) since they take me on mystical, emotional and spooky journeys without me having to leave home.
Occasionally, I tend to be among the number of people who would sing into a mirror to a favorite song (either Avril Lavigne’s Freak Out or Nickelback’s Saving Me) and depending on my mood I’d probably add a little theatrics to it too. When it comes to writing articles, to properly bring on the innovative vibes, I’ll probably take to a Miles Davis. Other than those listed attributes, I’m a relatively normal human being.
