Starz’s Newest Series Outlander Finally Gets Premiere Date
What If Your Future Was The Past?
Earlier today Starz announced that its highly anticipated new series Outlander will premiere on Saturday, August 9th at 9pm ET/PT. The series has been adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling books and is exectutive produced by Battlestar Galactica’s Ronald D. Moore. Moore also wrote the first two episodes of the series, which were directed by John Dahl (Breaking Bad). The sixteen episode first season is currently shooting on location in Scotland, and fans can get more information by following the official Outlander Facebook Page and by following the series’ Twitter (@Outlander_Starz) and Instagram. You can join the conversation with the hashtags #Outlander and #STARZ.
Aside from the premiere date, Starz also released the official key art, which depicts Claire (Caitriona Balfe), a married British combat nurse from 1945 who mysteriously falls back in time to 1743 Scotland, where she is torn between her husband Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a Scottish warrior who comes to her rescue. The image represents Claire’s physical and emotional journey. At the start of the series, she is a woman who has been transported into the past, but she’s reaching back and trying to stay connected to the life and husband that are now beyond her reach.
Fan of the series? Don’t worry! August isn’t as far away as it seems, and if you can’t hold on the next book is on its way. The eighth novel in the Outlander series, “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood” will be released on June 10, 2014.
