The CW Takes an Ax to Cult
Earlier today, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the CW has canceled its new suspense yarn, Cult, just short of a full season. Though the show managed to complete filming the entire first season months ago, the network has opted to remove the series from its television line-up immediately. No news yet if the remaining episode will ever air, but there is a chance they may show up on line at a later date.
Cult has struggled to find its audience ever since it premiere to low ratings with less than 900,000 live television viewers. After 2 episodes, the series was moved from Tuesdays following the popular comedy Hart of Dixie to the dreaded Friday nights following Nikita. The action drama has also suffered from low ratings, but has managed to be renewed in the past due to the series’ loyal cult following (pun intended). In that light, Cult’s cancelation is somewhat ironic. With Cult gone, the CW will air encore presentations of The Carries Diaries and Oh, Sit! In its place beginning this Friday at 9PM.
