I was wrong. It’s a hard thing to admit, but I was. In direct contrast to my previous statements in an article leading up to this one entitled “Betting on NHL Games Harder This Year Than Any Other”, hockey teams all around the NHL that have previously been pushed aside (some almost being pushed and moved into different hockey markets) due to their performance, or lack thereof, are still becoming powerhouses in the hockey world. Betting in the hockey world has not become easier by any stretch of the imagination. Phoenix and Ottawa are prime examples of this, as both are teams which in previous years would be a sure bet NOT to make the playoffs. Instead, both teams sit fourth (4th) and fifth (5th) respectively in their respective conferences (West, East), Ottawa being one of the hottest teams in the league with a current 11-0-1 record in their last 12 games (11 of those games being won in succession). On the other hand Detroit, who are sure bets to be in the top three every year, sit in ninth (9th) place on the outside of the Western Conference playoff race looking in. The placements of the teams, however, make no difference at all in the outcome of games. Toronto, being the worst team in the league, walked into Maple Leafs Garden and shut out the New Jersey Devils (a powerhouse in their own right) 3-0, helped in no small part by newly acquired goaltender J.S. Giguere and defenceman Dion Phaneuf among other acquisitions. Two days later they faced Ottawa and handed them a 5-0 loss, snapping the Senators’ 11 game win streak.
I took my own advice and placed a couple of bets in December, thinking that I knew enough about each team that it was now safe to try and predict what teams would win in any given matchup. Each team seemed to have come into their own, and I was feeling pretty damn good about my hockey knowledge. Alas, in the hockey world, especially today’s hockey world, every team is capable of absolutely anything. And that’s scary. The placement of every team in the entire league is so unpredictable it’s ridiculous. In both the Eastern and Western Conference there are a maximum of four (4) and a minimum of (2) points separating 12th place to 8th place in the standings. And a team’s overtime and shoot-out win/loss record plays a humongous role in each and every one of the placings from 1st all the way to 15th. It is definitely going to be a fight, and a nasty one at that.
This is something that is bound to give you the thrills and an adrenaline rush like no other like a nice quiet game of Judi Slot Online with many twists and turns to watch out for.
My conclusion is therefore not to just drop your pencils and stop filling in your betting bubbles. Instead, keep on going with it, choosing your teams and going with your gut. After all, everybody get lucky sometimes, right?
